STEP2a: PrePhD Study ^^,

^^, (US pon rasanya comply dengan STEP 2b)

Baiklah, email yang saya hantar kepada mereka adalah seperti berikut: (Mohon doa yg terbaik kepada Mentor saya, Dr Rafiq yang telah menyemak email saya ini..ameen):

Dear Sir,

My name is Nazri from Malaysia and I have just completed my Masters (by research) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.  I am now looking for a place to do research in biomechanics for my PhD.  My study will be fully sponsored by the Malaysian Government.

For your information, my Masters research was on wrist arthroplasty and I managed to get 1 manuscript accepted for publication (currently being revised) at Medical Engineering & Physics.  I have also submitted two other manuscripts (currently under review) to the Journal of Engineering in Medicine and Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing.

I would therefore appreciate if you could let me know whether I can further my studies at your institute. Kindly refer to the attachments for further details.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely

Sekali dengan email ini, saya lampirkan beberapa dokumen sokongan, iaitu:
1. CV
2. Results IELTS
3. Recommendation Letters (from 3 referees)
4. Transcript

Kemudian, just send the email to them, hantar je sekali ramai2..dan kemudian, tunggulah hasilnya. insyaALLAH. Sebagai perkongsian, tersenarai di bawah ini adalah respon yang saya terima daripada mereka:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Dear Mr. Bajuri,
Thank you for your interest in our laboratory.  To do PhD work, you would need to be accepted into a PhD program at one of the Boston schools, as we do not offer PhD training by ourselves.  For example, I have PhD students from Boston University, Harvard University and from MIT.  Good luck with your endeavors.

Regards,
Mary

2. Dear Nazri,
Thank you for your interest in conducting research in my group. I am interested in your CV and would like to schedule a telephone conversation before we take things further.
May I propose scheduling a conversation at 9 a.m. my time on Tuesday morning?

Yours sincerely,

Anthony Bull

3. Dear Mohd Nazri Bajuri,

Thank you for your email and for your interest in the mechanobiology group. Unfortunately we are not able to offer any PhD studentship positions at the moment in our group.

Please note that applications for a DPhil course in Engineering Science are administered centrally, and include opportunities such as the Centre for Doctoral Training in Healthcare Innovation. See http://www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/postgraduate_courses/ to apply.

Yours sincerely

4.Dear Nazri,

thank you for your email. I am currently looking for one or two PhD students for a start next year, and I would be happy to consider your application. I am interested in problems of cellular mechanics during embryo development, with a combination of modelling and experimentation. My work tends to involve a fair amount of biophysical analysis and signal processing.

It might be good to discuss first over the phone to see if there is a possible match of interests and skills. Would you be available on Thu 10 Nov in the morning (UK time, so probably in the afternoon for you)?

I would appreciate to have a copy of your submitted papers before this discussion to know in more details what sort of work you have done so far.

In the mean time, I would encourage you to look at some of my recent papers and get a feeling for the kind of work I am currently doing.

Kind regards,

Alexandre.

6.Dear Mohd,

Thank you for your letter expressing an interest in my lab.  At this point I don't know if I'll have openings in the fall, so I'd suggest you contact me later, once you have been accepted to one of our programs at MIT.

Sincerely,
